My Family and Our House
A six-year-old's crayon drawing on printer paper: a house, a family of stick figures and an oversized sun.
How it is made
Built the way a child builds one, from lib/drycrayon.ps on drykit's toothed surface. The sky is a band of blue scribble across the top and the grass a band along the bottom, both laid in side-by-side patches that run past their edges and leave white seams. A sun far too big, a red house with a brown roof, a path, an apple tree, flowers, birds, a smoking chimney and four stick figures about as tall as the house follow, and the name is set in strokeglyphs capitals with a backward S, each letter its own size and lean. Outlines go on last. The paths come from dywobble, dyscribble, dyloop, dyrays, dygrass and dyfigure, inked by dycrayon in the colours of a 16-crayon box.

% A drawing by a six-year-old on a sheet of printer paper: a house, a
% family of stick figures, a tree, flowers, a huge shaky sun, the sky as
% a band along the top, the grass as a band along the bottom, and the
% artist's name in the corner.
%
% It is built the way a child builds one, which is the point of the
% piece (docs/dev/design/drymedia/REFERENCES.md, Y4 and Y5):
%
% - the sky and the grass are bands that stop short: the paper between
% them is the air, and the colour is laid in patches of back-and-forth
% scribble that run past their edges and leave white seams
% - the sun is far too big, one loop that doesn't close, scribbled in
% yellow over the sky's blue (the blue shows through the yellow's gaps)
% - everything stands on the ground line: no perspective, figures about
% as tall as the house, the walls scribbled flat, outlines laid over
% the fills last
% - the figures are lollipop people with their arms thrown up and out
% - the signature has a backward S
%
% Libraries: drycrayon (the crayon, the paper and the six child motions)
% on drykit; the name's letters are strokeglyphs' skeleton capitals (#236)
% inked with the same crayon, one letter at a time so each can be its own
% size and lean.
%
% pscat --page 792x612 gallery/crayon_drawing.ps
%
% The motions draw from the caller's `rand`; Ghostscript's `rand` differs
% from pscat's, so its render lays the same drawing out a little
% differently (DRYMEDIA.md 3.2).
